Okay, I've had about enough of the Veil SNR for this season. Since I incorporate starless processing in all my images, these ones simply kick my butt. StarX eats filaments, Starnet always leaves a mottled background. Theres no happy medium that I've found. It makes Veil almost impossible to do starless... and why it took me a couple weeks to arrive at an image I somewhat liked. The background still isn't perfect, the stars feel wierd. Theres probably a little more MMT usage than I would have preferred in this image, but it looks very presentable.
This image is somewhat special to me however, since I'm crossing my 1 year anniversary of doing astrophotography. Eastern Veil was my very first upload on astrobin, and while it's very subpar, I keep it posted as a benchmark to my progress. To those that have been doing this for awhile and wondering how I advanced so quickly... I can only say "practice" Lots and lots of practice! I processed other peoples data nearly every night for practice. Good, bad, all of it. Taught myself a few techniques, learned alot from networking with others. I will also say, I didn't watch hardly youtube videos on astro. I wish you all luck, and clear skies.
